October is National Safe Work Month, and, given ey October is National Safe Work Month, and, given eye injuries can have severe consequences, eye safety is a key component of workplace safety. At Ocean Eyes Optometrists we look after someone with an ocular foreign body almost once a week! Of course we’re willing to provide this service but would much prefer if everyone used proper safety glasses to avoid the need 🙂 We are happy to help with prescription safety glasses. Feel free to stop into the practice to see Kate and the team to see the range

I asked if they were OK and they warned me about the birds. They were calling their mum on the phone to come and get them because they couldn’t get to their bikes with out the Magpies attacking them! To protect your eyes from magpie attacks, the most effective methods are wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, or a helmet to cover your head and eyes, using an umbrella for additional protection, and avoiding known swooping hotspots by taking detours. If you do happen to sustain an eye injury, call us on 5255 5655 !! (Image Pixabay Buntysmum)
Turning up the heat this winter? Keep your eyes pr Turning up the heat this winter? Keep your eyes protected!
Indoor heating may keep you warm during the chilly winter months, but it can also dry out the air, and your eyes. Here are a few simple ways to keep your eyes comfy whilst staying warm indoors:
Avoid sitting too close to heaters or vents
Use lubricating eye drops if needed
Add an extra layer of warm clothes or use a blanket to stay warm
Consider using a humidifier to balance the air
Stay hydrated throughout the day

A warm home shouldn’t come at the cost of dry, uncomfortable eyes.
